About Singita Lebombo Lodge

A striking contemporary lodge perched on a cliff above the N'wanetsi River in Kruger's 33,000-acre private concession, where cutting-edge design meets Africa's greatest wildlife.

Singita Lebombo Lodge is an architectural icon in the heart of South Africa's Kruger National Park, perched on a cliff above the N'wanetsi River within a 33,000-acre private concession. The lodge's radical contemporary design — all glass, steel, and angular lines — was controversial when it opened, but has since been recognized as one of the most innovative safari lodge designs in Africa, earning numerous architectural and hospitality awards. The fifteen suites are spectacular glass-walled pavilions that appear to float above the river valley, their angular rooflines inspired by the eagles' nests that dot the nearby cliffs. Each suite features a king-size bed positioned to face the floor-to-ceiling windows, an outdoor shower with bush views, a private plunge pool on the wooden deck, and a rooftop terrace for sleeping under the stars. The interiors combine raw concrete, reclaimed timber, and industrial steel with soft African textiles and organic materials in a bold aesthetic statement. The lodge's main areas are equally striking, with a dramatic double-volume lounge suspended over the river, a restaurant serving contemporary African cuisine, a state-of-the-art wine studio housing over 300 labels, and an interactive kitchen where guests can join the chef for cooking demonstrations. The spa, with treatment rooms overlooking the river, completes the experience. The private concession guarantees exclusivity — only Singita vehicles traverse this prime section of Kruger, ensuring unmatched game viewing without the crowds that can characterize the park's public roads. The N'wanetsi River corridor is one of the richest wildlife zones in southern Africa, supporting exceptional concentrations of lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs, elephants, and buffalo. Expert trackers with decades of experience lead guests to extraordinary encounters, often spending entire mornings following a single leopard or witnessing a wild dog hunt.

Dining Experience

The restaurant serves contemporary African cuisine crafted from seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The wine studio houses over 300 labels with a focus on South African estates. Bush breakfasts, picnic lunches, and boma dinners are regular features. The interactive kitchen offers cooking demonstrations with the head chef.

Activities & Experiences

Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in open Land Rovers, guided bush walks, wine studio tastings, interactive cooking experiences, stargazing on suite rooftops, archery, mountain biking, spa treatments, and behind-the-scenes conservation tours with anti-poaching units.

Wildlife

The N'wanetsi concession is one of the most wildlife-rich areas in Kruger, supporting all of the Big Five in exceptional densities. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, and African wild dogs are regularly seen. The river attracts large elephant herds and dense buffalo populations. Over 500 bird species include martial eagle, saddle-billed stork, and Pel's fishing owl.

Best Time to Visit

The dry winter months of May to September offer the best game viewing as sparse vegetation and dry conditions concentrate wildlife along the river. Summer (October–April) brings lush green landscapes, migratory birds, and the birth of impala lambs that attract predators. Game viewing is excellent year-round in this concession.
