Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrival in Cape Town — Culinary Introduction
Arrive in Cape Town and transfer to your luxury hotel. Spend the afternoon exploring the city's food scene — visit the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock for artisan food stalls, or browse the V&A Waterfront's food markets. A specially curated welcome dinner at one of Cape Town's top-rated restaurants introduces you to modern Cape cuisine, a fusion of African, Malay, Dutch, and French influences. Paired wines from the estates you will visit later in the trip set the stage.

Stellenbosch — Cape Dutch Wine Heritage
Drive 45 minutes to Stellenbosch, the heart of the Cape Winelands. Begin at a historic Cape Dutch estate dating back to 1685, where a private cellar tour and tasting reveals the heritage of South African winemaking. Continue to a modern boutique cellar on the slopes of the Helderberg mountains for a comparative tasting of their award-winning red blends. Lunch is a relaxed affair at a wine estate restaurant with mountain views. The afternoon brings a hands-on Cape cuisine cooking class, learning to prepare traditional bobotie, Cape Malay curry, and malva pudding. Check into your Stellenbosch boutique hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Franschhoek — Gourmet Capital of South Africa
Cross the scenic Helshoogte Pass to Franschhoek, a picturesque valley originally settled by French Huguenots in the 17th century. Board the famous Franschhoek Wine Tram, which meanders through the vineyards, hopping between cellar doors for tastings of pinotage, chardonnay, and MCC (methode cap classique sparkling wine). Stop at an artisan chocolatier for a wine-and-chocolate pairing that reveals how flavour profiles complement each other. A multi-course tasting menu lunch at one of Franschhoek's celebrated restaurants is the gastronomic highlight of the trip. The afternoon is free to explore the village's excellent galleries, boutiques, and craft shops.

Franschhoek to Hermanus — Over the Mountains
After a leisurely breakfast, drive south over the Franschhoek Pass and through the scenic Overberg region to the coastal town of Hermanus. Stop at a family-run farm stall for artisan cheeses, olives, and preserves — the Overberg is known for its agricultural heritage. Arrive in Hermanus and check into your clifftop boutique hotel with dramatic ocean views. Walk the famous cliff path — between July and November, southern right whales breach, tail-slap, and nurse their calves in the bay below. Even outside whale season, the coastal scenery is spectacular. Dinner at a renowned seafood restaurant overlooking Walker Bay completes the day.

Hermanus — Whales, Wine & Coastal Beauty
A full day exploring Hermanus and its surroundings. The morning features a boat-based whale-watching excursion (seasonal), bringing you within regulated distance of southern right whales — the gentle giants can grow to 15 metres and weigh 60 tonnes. Outside whale season, a kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding excursion in Walker Bay reveals the rich marine life including seals, dolphins, and penguins. After lunch, visit the Hemel-en-Aarde (Heaven and Earth) wine valley behind Hermanus, where cool-climate pinot noir and chardonnay are grown in a setting of extraordinary beauty. A farewell dinner at your hotel celebrates the conclusion of your gourmet Western Cape journey.
