About Wildwaters Lodge

A private island lodge on the White Nile near Jinja, where luxury meets adrenaline surrounded by thundering Class V rapids and pristine tropical forest.

Wildwaters Lodge occupies an extraordinary private island in the middle of the White Nile, accessible only by boat and surrounded on all sides by the thundering Class V rapids that have made Jinja — the source of the Nile — one of Africa's premier adventure destinations. This is a lodge unlike any other on the continent, where the raw power of the river provides a constant, exhilarating soundtrack to an experience of refined wilderness luxury. The lodge's ten elevated wooden cabins are cantilevered over the river's edge, each offering floor-to-ceiling views of the roiling rapids from the comfort of king-size beds. The design is minimalist and elegant — polished wood, flowing white mosquito nets, and open-plan living spaces that blur the boundary between interior and river. Private decks extend over the water, and outdoor bathtubs let guests soak while watching the Nile thunder past just below. The central lodge building houses a stylish restaurant and bar, an infinity pool that seems to flow into the river, and a lounge area with comfortable seating and a curated library. The chef prepares creative East African cuisine highlighting Uganda's remarkable fresh produce, with Nile perch, freshwater crayfish, and tropical fruits featuring prominently. The lodge is the starting point for some of Africa's most thrilling adventure activities. White-water rafting through the Nile's Grade V rapids is the signature experience, but guests can also kayak, bungee jump over the river, take quad bike excursions through surrounding villages, or simply enjoy birding walks on the island — the river ecosystem supports an exceptional diversity of kingfishers, weavers, and raptors.
