About Chobe Safari Lodge

A riverside lodge on the banks of the Victoria Nile in Murchison Falls National Park, where the world's most powerful waterfall thunders through a narrow gorge.

Chobe Safari Lodge is the premier accommodation in Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's largest and oldest protected area. Set on the southern bank of the Victoria Nile just downstream from the thundering Murchison Falls — where the entire river forces through a seven-meter gap creating the world's most powerful waterfall — the lodge offers a front-row seat to one of Africa's most dramatic natural spectacles. The lodge's 44 rooms range from comfortable standard rooms to spacious riverside suites and self-contained safari cottages, all designed with warm timber finishes, African-print fabrics, and private outdoor spaces facing the river. The premium riverside suites are the highlight, with floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto private decks where hippos surface and Goliath herons stalk the shallows just meters away. At night, the deep bellowing of hippos provides a primal lullaby. The lodge's expansive grounds include a large swimming pool overlooking the Nile, manicured gardens where Uganda's iconic grey-crowned cranes often strut, and a spacious open-air restaurant and bar perched on the riverbank. The kitchen serves a mix of Ugandan and international cuisine, with the freshly grilled Nile perch being a perennial favorite. Murchison Falls National Park protects 3,840 square kilometers of rolling savannah, dense tropical forest, and papyrus wetlands bisected by the Victoria Nile. Game drives on the northern bank reveal elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, and the rare shoebill stork. The iconic boat cruise upstream to the base of the falls is a highlight of any Ugandan safari, passing through dense pods of hippos and basking crocodiles before the falls' deafening roar and perpetual rainbow announce their proximity.
